Story Recs: Supercharged Sookie – Part II

-Supercharged Sookie Part II-

As we mentioned in Supercharged Sookie Part I, we had such a tough time narrowing down the choices, so we decided to keep them all and squish our beloved Epic Eric in between. Now, without further ado, please continue to enjoy the spoils of Supercharged Sookie in our Part II.

We at the Directory love a smart or strong Sookie, preferably both, and feel it should be the standard rather than the exception to the rule. The only thing that can top a smart and strong Sookie? The Supercharged Sookie, a woman after our own hearts who is fully aware of her own power and has no issue kicking some ass, vampire or otherwise. While we enjoy the journeys of Sookie growing into those powers, there is nothing quite like a Sookie who has them from the get go. The only issue we encountered? We were spoiled for choice, so in the end we decided there will be two story rec posts for our beloved heroine, and we only though it was fair if we sandwiched an Epic Eric in between.

SOOKIE AND HADLEY BLOOD SISTERS by Joxx

SVM, Without Gran’s influence I believe Sookie would have turned to a life of crime…with telepathy, wouldn’t you? Mawhaha…With tragedy & trouble following Sookie like rabid dogs will she find a family, love and a home in the most unlikely place? AU, rated M, -COMPLETE-

A story about true friendship beyond family ties; Sookie and Hadley grow up fast, without family forcing them to exploit the full range of the curses that are their Fae gifts by becoming professional con artists. Their tricks lead them to reluctantly become associates of one Viking vampire sheriff… What starts as an unlikely alliance develops into a strong and, eventually, loving E/S(/G) partnership.

Stay by Kjwrit

Because I couldn’t let their story end the way it did. This story picks up after Dead Ever After. Everything is based off of spoilers leaked on the internet, so read at your own risk. The chapter titles are the names of the songs that gave me inspiration. E/S, rated M, -COMPLETE-

Take two heaping spoonfuls of Sookie Stackhouse of the SVM notoriety finally embracing her Fairy DNA and kickin’ ass, add one measured spoonful of Eric’s delicious vulnerability seasoned with his irrepressible spirit after a year of hell under Freyda’s abuse, and then a healthy dose of kjwrit’s characteristic wit mixed together in ten enticing chapters to yield a satisfying meal of comeuppance with a side of revenge. Best served cold.

…and for dessert, there’s a scrumptious outtake definitely worth tasting.

Stories high in fantasy elements, often a rich Alternate Universe

Stories high in fantasy elements, often a rich Alternate Universe

The Sessrumnir Chronicles: The Astral Arch by InLoveWithEric

Sookie never thought when she returned from her years away that she would be thrown into the Supernatural soup so quickly, but she was. With Jason fearful for his life, it’s up to Sookie to try to make nice with the reigning monarch of Louisiana. Little did she know that this encounter would change her life forever. Major OOC, AU, E/S, rated MA, -WIP-

All this time, I can’t look away from the blue eyed King in front of me.  I know, as I know that the sun will rise tomorrow, this Vampire is my mate.

“Shit,” I hear from the Vampire King.  I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Fae, Daemons, Ancients, Lycanthropes, the Bala, and Nephilim, this alternate universe seems filled to the brim with them and no two ever seem alike. When two are fated, however, all bets are off. Raised in the full regalia of her Fae heritage with impressive powers to boot, there is little to shy Sookie away from the reality when her eyes lock on the Vampire King of Louisiana. A curse word is uttered between them with the realization before the impressive strength in both these characters emerges to the forefront. Together, and with great passion, it gives way for the unique mythology that is woven deeply into every sentence of this surely epic tale.

Hey, they may be human but they're still our Eric and Sookie!

Sookie the Shieldmaiden by Thyra10

Sookie the Shieldmaiden has chosen to live by the sword. On a raid she meets another Viking warrior – a warrior who will turn her life upside down. All Human. Viking age. AU, AH, E/S, rated M, -COMPLETE-

“I was a good fighter. A warrior to be feared. And I had a secret weapon to make up for my small size – I could predict every move my opponent made, before he made it.”

Though the origins of Sookie’s unique ability are never revealed, it would be nothing without her innate strength, instincts, confidence, and cunning, all qualities that find their match in a cocky fellow Viking warrior.  This story is All-Human, set during the pre-Christian Viking era, delivered in clear and engaging storytelling, which does little to contain Thyra10’s enthusiasm with the history lessons that jump from the page and make the female protagonists, take note of a kick ass Pam, shine like no other as only Viking women could. Added bonus, high-handed Vikings only have to save Sookie once, from vomiting in the bed after a night of mead drinking…

banend-2

Please note: since we had so much choice for Supercharged Sookie we decided to tackle the theme with more than our usual amount of stories. Under normal circumstances we post story recommendations every other week, it was only under the special occasion of SUPERCHARGED SOOKIE and an EPIC ERIC demanding to be sandwiched in between that we posted Story Recs once a week. Our next post will be as usual two weeks from now.
