From detectives and investigators to downright criminals, with a telepath and a Viking vampire Sheriff in mind, it’s no wonder that Eric and Sookie can take on many roles. Sometimes working together, sometimes playing off the other, yet always with such promising chemistry we can’t help but get embroiled. Regardless, the books’ origins as a mystery series leave ample opportunity to put our favorite couple together as a crime fighting duo. In the past, we reviewed Seastarr08’s “A Better Man” and Colliding Muse’s “Dodge & Chase,” both wonderful examples of the genre. Also, we can’t help but mention the story we’d most like to see finished someday that promises us all the delight of Eric and Sookie, murders, mystery, and crime is ALH1971’s “The Louisiana Vampire Murders.” In the meantime, enjoy our other favored picks of Eric and Sookie as partners in (solving) crime.
Long Haul Saga: Part 2. Sookie returns to Bon Temps, free of the effects of the fairy wish and determined to build a new life for herself. But things never go smoothly for our girl. She finds herself dragged deeper into the supernatural world, in ways she didn’t imagine. Spoilers for all books, Sookie and Eric POV. Rated M, -WIP-
In this second installment of MagpieTales’ Long Haul Saga, Sookie has finally been able to break from Sam and begin her life again, but she still seems to be confused about where that life should lead, and it won’t be all sunshine and lollipops. MagpieTales’ writing brings all your emotions to the surface, even the ‘Pams’ among us are not immune.
Be warned though! This tale is not for the faint of heart! There are some very tough times ahead for our favorite duo. As the story progresses, Eric and Sookie work together, at times reluctantly, to solve some great mysteries plaguing the supernatural world. When problem-solving is done individually, it only highlights how much better they are as a team. Will it be a slow burn or just a crash for our heroes?
Family and distrust almost tore them apart. Determination and love has kept them together. They believe that they can withstand anything but will this new problem destroy all that they’ve worked so hard to build? Will love be enough this time? AU, OOC, E/S, rated M, -WIP-
In this generously-sized story, Eric and Sookie start off as a powerful couple who married only to bring together vampires and fae royalty (Sookie is a princess!) and while supernatural harmony was achieved, their marriage has many issues… ISSUES even… Fear not! After merely 20-odd chapters and some angsty moments, they get their act together… Just in time to be assigned to investigate a high profile murder mystery that could ruin the supernatural alliance forged and even their marriage… The disappearance and likely murders of several fae hybrids is one intriguing plot, thick with powerful and evil forces behind it that will put Eric and Sookie, and their many allies, to the test.
When Pam Ravenscroft goes missing, her two best friends are worried for her safety. Upon finding Pam’s diary, Sookie Stackhouse and Eric Northman are shocked to find Pam led a secret double life and they know that her diary holds all the clues to where Pam is.
WARNING: This story contains references to drug abuse, prostitution, and human trafficking.
AH, OOC, E/S, rated MA, -COMPLETE-
This is a bittersweet story about two people who have nothing in common, except their devotion to their friend and their need to find her. Sookie and Eric know Pam and realize something isn’t right when she fails to arrive for a meeting that she invited them both to attend. Having only known of each other’s existence before, the two are compelled to find out what’s happened. Of course, their own personal demons surface along with the real life ones that seemed to have ensnared their friend, forcing them to face uncertainty and fear at every turn. A compelling and realistically-written Sookie and Eric here, and a stark telling of some of the many facets of the underground sex trade, but not told gratuitously. Fair warning is already given in the summary.
What would you give to have superpowers? There’s a new drug for sale called FauX and for the right price you can experience what it is to be supernatural.
In a world still struggling to adjust to the fact that vampires are real, the human race is on the edge of finding out there is more than they ever dreamed going bump out in the night! Their only hope is SIN Agent Sookie Stackhouse and VBI Agent Eric Northman who are racing to protect us not only from ourselves but also from those who wish our total annihilation! AU, OOC, E/S, rated T, -COMPLETE-
When VBI Agent Eric Northman, ancient vampire, goes undercover to make a V bust, he finds himself face to face with beautiful SIN Agent Sookie Stackhouse, telepathic fairy. Sookie is deep undercover as a stripper working to uncover the mystery surrounding the new drug, FauX. Despite obvious chemistry, these two manage to step on each other’s toes and get off to a rather rocky start. The excitement begins as Eric and Sookie are forced to work on the FauX case together.
Idream3223 excels at shaking us up by presenting familiar characters and situations in surprising and unexpected ways. She certainly does it here in that not all our usual good guys and bad guys are what they seem…just sayin’! However, her poignant and imaginatively written moment of sacrifice by one of our lovers to keep the other safe is one of my favorite parts of this story. Don’t let that worry you though…it all comes out right in the end… Promise!
Eric is a forensic pathologist in the Shreveport Coroner’s Office. Can he convince Shreveport’s newest detective, Sookie Stackhouse, that he has more to offer on her unsolved cases than just his medical expertise? AH, AU, OOC, E/S, rated M, -COMPLETE-
Set in Shreveport’s police department and morgue, “Tales of the Dead” starts as your usual murder investigation, but soon hints of romance and the supernatural fill the air. In an unusual role-reversal from canon, we meet a shy Eric who is cursed (or gifted, depending on one’s perspective) with a supernatural ability that very much enhances his already considerable skills as a forensic pathologist. This extra help comes in very handy as he finds himself assisting newbie Detective Sookie with her cases.
As their relationship develops, under the watchful eye of one Corbett Stackhouse, Eric will have to face the inevitable dilemma, should he be honest about what he can do and risk being perceived as a ‘freak’ by the charming Detective Stackhouse? Yes, you read that right! “Tales of the Dead” features one of the more rarely fleshed-out incarnations of Corbett Stackhouse, Eric’s best friend and a former detective with a wicked sense of humor and a penchant for pranks…much to Eric’s chagrin at times. An enjoyable read with a good mix of adventure, romance, and kjwrit’s characteristic wit intermixed throughout.
